23 in Jin Shin Jyutsu

Frozen with fear – stuck in the fight/flight state. Things can be swirling all around – good and bad – and fear can leave us in the middle of a tornado. If trapped in fear, we lose access to control our destiny, to enjoy life, to connect with our dreams, to breathe more freely.

Emerging from fear

Even when we emerge from the storm cloud of fear, it can take time for the body to release the stress, tension and negative energy. And sometimes we need help to release them. Our body remembers our experiences – even when they’re too painful for us to consciously remember.

Tara Brach tells a lovely story about how, when we suffer trauma, we distance ourselves from the horrible experience – so we can survive. There is a cost, though. This distance, and the related tensions, keep us from feeling free – and from easily showing up with other people. Some of these energy blocks from our life exist long after it is useful. They leave us with reduced capacity, an increased need for external validation, and seeking something more. Is there something that you’d like to release? Some tension that has become too much?

How Jin Shin Jyutsu helps

We can ease these tensions by practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu – come for a session and learn more. I remember my first session all those years ago – it helped to release tension and reduce energy blocks. I had lots of tension in my 23s – and lots of fears in my life. Once we face our fears, we can transform them into courage. I love stories about how people have overcome their fears – do you have one you’d like to share? You can contact me through this website or message me directly

Where do I hold?

shows location of SEL 23

23 in Jin Shin Jyutsu relates to specific energy centres – SEL 23 are located in the small of our backs, at the base of the rib cage. As with all safety energy lock centres, we have two – one on the right side and one on the left. These energy centres are located right near our adrenal glands and our kidneys. The kidney function energy holds other benefits and challenges for us. Stress and tension bring about negative energy in this area – better to release that tension. It will help you to move out of fear and into a more positive space.

Another hold to help yourself

If it seems to difficult to reach out just yet, we can still help ourselves – just by holding 2 fingers. First, holding the index finger helps the body transform fear into flow, fear into faith. We can help energy to flow freely through this area by holding our index fingers or our little fingers. Second, holding the little finger helps to release effort and stress in our bodies. We can connect with an effortless reality.

How does 23 fit in with 5-element theory?

Within the 5-element theory, SEL 23 aligns with water. The water element helps us move freely and transform things in our lives. This transformation is also present in nature. We can see the transforming power of water on the lovely beachfront. The rocks and sand have been changed, moved, and new scenes result. It strikes me that each scene is perfect – just like each moment in our life. My goal is to find appreciation for the current moments but not get stuck in them. Then I can be inspired to move forward.
