Hippocrates held that “the natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.” We hold our health in our hands through our daily actions and through Jin Shin Jyutsu.
Approaching health, some people take a hands off approach and seek healing from their doctors and medicine cabinets. I used to do this. I didn’t make a connection between my daily choices and my health. Definitely a blind spot in my life. This left me in ill health – stressed, in pain, and anxious.
How self-care helped me
I made the transition to self-healing and self-care through a long journey. I began this pathway when conventional medicine showed no answers. Even so, my path to Jin Shin Jyutsu was not straightforward, linear or foreseen. I began improving my health by receiving Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions and extended the benefits by using my own hands for self-help. Thankfully, I now understand my health and life much better.
How does this type of self-care help?
Jin Shin Jyutsu centres on the energetic pathways or meridians. These meridians allow us to access the natural healing within us. The pathways travel through areas of free-flowing energy and areas of stagnant energy. When we tense against unwanted experiences and feelings, we may have blockages in these energetic pathways. Similarly, when we have an injury due to life events, we may have energy blockages. These blockages often result in ill health or dis-ease.
So after we do this self-care, what’s next?
We can move beyond ill-health and dis-ease by improving the energetic flows in our bodies. We can access health through the natural healing force within us. One of my favourite ways is with Jin Shin Jyutsu. This is how our health is in our hands.
