Our first thought, when facing daily challenges, is not likely to be how to adapt with Jin Shin Jyutsu. The pressing new circumstances may seem overwhelming. Jin Shin Jyutsu can help us see how we are being given an opportunity to adapt and see things differently.. This opportunity is sometimes more difficult than others. In difficult times, we can rely on resources at our fingertips.
Jin Shin Jyutsu accepts us as we are . . . we don’t need to be a certain way, to look a certain way, to have certain things in our lives. It is always available to us.
We can improve our security by placing our hand on our cheekbone, and adapt more easily by placing our other hand on our collarbone. Adaptation with Jin Shin Jyutsu helps us change how we approach situations and how we feel within ourselves.
Jin Shin Jyutsu offers many options to help ourselves – specific energy centres on our body, the breath, and holding fingers. The specific energy centres are referred to as Safety energy locks (SEL). Holding SEL can help us to harmonise our beings as in the case of adaptation and security. The relevant positions demonstrated are SEL21 and SEL22:
SEL21 is located at the base of the cheekbone – one on each side of the body. This safety energy lock is related to profound security and escape from mental bondage (Burmeister and Monte, 1997). By practising Jin Shin Jyutsu and holding this space, we can experience increased security and peace.
SEL22 is located at the base of the collarbone – again one on each side of the body. This safety energy lock is related to complete adaptation with Jin Shin Jyutsu (Burmeister and Monte, 1997). By holding this space, we can adapt to new circumstances in our lives – changes in our lives including environment, living situations, employment, and even new government requirements.
Holding these two safety energy locks also help us to adapt with Jin Shin Jyutsu – to transform worry into peace. Within Jin Shin Jyutsu, worry is associated with the 1st Depth of our energetic pathways. Holding SEL21 and SEL22 is the first step of the stomach function energy – the descending energy pathway of the 1st Depth.
We can also reduce our worry by harmonising our 1st Depth by holding our thumb. For all of these Jin Shin Jyutsu techniques, gently hold the areas, breathe, and relax.
