Releasing fears and regenerating – sounds easy – but sometimes it’s not easy at all. Holding the inside of our ankle (SEL 5) helps make this easier.
In addition, when we’ve released our fears, we can more easily move forward. This is reflected in our bodies at SEL5 – on the medial or inner side of our ankle. When this area is congested (the energy isn’t flowing), we can get stuck in old ideas and worries.
We sometimes tend to ignore our ankles and our feet – they are so far from our heads, where many of us spend most of our time. Being grounded and aware of our connection with the earth helps us with stability and flexibility.
But holding the inside of our ankle can help us in other ways too – easing pain and suffering – and stopping disharmony throughout our bodies, our minds, and our emotions. This place on our body comes up in many of the pathways and many of the holds in Jin Shin Jyutsu. .
When you sit on the ground ( or have both legs on the couch), we can easily put one knee up and connect sel5 (release fears) to other sel1 (move on/forward) 😉
