Discover Relaxation in Maynooth: Transformative Power of JSJ, Reflexology and Reiki
Experience Unmatched Serenity and Balance – will it be Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) Reflexology and Reiki, or a combination?
You know you want to feel better – calmer, less stressed, and pain free. But it can be overwhelming to know what specifically you need – that’s why you’re coming to a practitioner for help. If you’re looking for a specific treatment, I’m happy to spend the hour with you that way.
If you’re finding this overwhelming or confusing, relax – no worries – I can help. I’ve been there – treatment menus sometimes raise more questions than they answer, especially if treatment types are unclear. Don’t worry I’ve got you. You can come as you are and just relax. We will create a wonderful treatment pathway for your highest good. Here is a glimpse into the magic of a session with me Jackie McGloughlin, holistic practitioner and gentle soul. Let’s talk about Jin Shin Jyutsu – JSJ Reflexology and Reiki and how they can help you now.
Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) – ancient secrets for modern stress relief.
Jin Shin Jyutsu works with the flow of energy in your body. The energy pathways in your body exist as part of your being and support you as you go about your day. Very much like your heart beating or your digestion, these functions operate without your need for attention. These pathways, called meridians in Traditional Chinese Medicine, each have a special support for you and all are interrelated.
I mentioned that it’s ancient wisdom for your modern lifestyle because the founder Jiro Murai drew on the ancient wisdom from China and Japan. He coupled this with intensive personal exploration and case studies treating different health concerns. Through this, we have great understanding of how the body works and clear sequences to prompt the body’s healing.
Sometimes, though, life happens and things go a bit off kilter. When we’re stressed or experience external pressures, things can go awry with our energy. This shows up as dis-ease in our being. The blessing is that we can use simple touch in specific sequences to reset these energies – and we can become calm, clear, and grounded. The tension and pain can simply melt away.
Through the skilful art of resting hands on the body, connections within your being are strengthened, kinks are unwound, and your energy flows as it did before you were tense and facing difficulties. A bit like a river that had debris blocking the flow downstream, when the congestion is relieved, everything flows easily and brings new opportunities with rest and relaxation.
You might wonder, though, what a Jin Shin Jyutsu session is like. You can learn more in the post about What It’s like at your First JSJ session.
Reflexology – more than a pampering foot rub
Reflexology supports every system in your body – all through pressure points in your feet. Similar to Jin Shin Jyutsu, this treatment work on the meridians and specific organ functions in the body. Reflexology has been traced back to 2330 BC in China and Egypt – you can read more about the history on the Irish National Reflexology site.
Over time, we have learned more and more about how to maximise the benefits of reflexes in our feet. And even more exciting for those who are a bit shy about their feet, we can access the benefits through the reflexes in our hands. We know that reflexology relieves stress and improves our health – body, mind and spirit. (If you’d like to read a science bit – have a look here).
Our feet connect us with the Earth and carry us through our day. And each foot has over 200,000 nerve endings. And, amazingly, a quarter of our bones are located in our feet. Have you ever been exhausted after a day on your feet – and are longing just to put your feet up and rest? This is good wisdom and adding in gentle pressure on the right places, you can have even more benefits.
Again, similar to Jin Shin Jyutsu, when our systems are not functioning optimally, we can feel unwell. This can show up as fatigue, pain, tension, chronic health conditions, and/or general unease. If you’re more comfortable with a foot or hand massage, this is the treatment for you. All of the body’s systems are accessible from just the feet as well as just the hands.
Reiki – gathering healing energy for your highest good
Reiki benefits our entire being and works with an entirely different map of the body – the chakras that exist within and around your body. Reiki helps restore balance to the body, mind and spirit – The Reiki Federation of Ireland has a bit more information. It has been shown to reduce stress, reduce pain, and promote wellbeing. If you’re the type that likes to read the science bits, you can read more about it here.
When I first encountered Reiki, I was very sceptical. How could someone being in the same room with me (and not even touching me), help me to release tension, pain, and dis-ease in my body? I found, though, that I did feel better – and what’s more, I could often sense where the practitioner was working (even with my eyes closed). Similarly, my clients can feel the warmth and/or tingles as I work and they relax. Of course, this is when they are so relaxed they many have drifted off to sleep. Even so, after the treatment, they emerge rested, relieved of tension, and their ailments reduced.
Reiki, Jin Shin Jyutsu, and Reflexology are similar in many ways – here are three:
First, I support you with specific concerns – whether it’s anxiousness, headaches, or other troublesome medical projects. I work with the concern directly and use supporting chakras to bolster your healing.
Second, I work to improve your overall wellbeing. All our systems are connected and when one is compromised, it can affect us in so many ways. I give you an overall tune-up with your energy and give added support to those areas that need additional help.
Third, you remain fully clothed for these treatments and rest on a padded table in a quiet room.
Combined treatments
When you come for a session, this is your time. We can combine treatments, usually by spending part of the hour with one type of treatment and then switching to another. For example, a session could start with reflexology and finish with Jin Shin Jyutsu. They are all pathways to the same goal – you feeling better, relaxed, and revived. Generally I use one type of treatment at a time. It’s amazing how clients tell me the different treatments feel very different in their body. Which energy treatment will you like best?
Having time for yourself is so important. Often, we’re so busy taking care of everyone else, we put ourselves last on the list. This can result in exhaustion, ill health, and not being able to do those important things in our lives. Treat yourself as you would a good friend or beloved family member – make time for you. You’ll be glad you did.
